VT6 believes that there are several key components to quality VPS hosting. Having our roots in the shared and dedicated hosting industry since 2005, we go to great lengths to ensure that our Quality of Service is met each and every time for all of our customers.

The first core component is hardware

Each of our VPS Servers are hosting on quality server hardware, Dual or Quad Core servers, with a minimum 4GB RAM and RAID1 or RAID10 mirrored storage. What does this mean to you? Simple, our servers are hosted in true server class hardware, with robust CPU performance, ample amounts of RAM and redundant removable drives easily replaced should one ever fail.

The second component is our support staff

Highly trained Linux and Unix administrators staff our support desk around the clock. We monitor each and every server to ensure any downtime is dealt with as quickly as possible. Our friendly and helpful staff are here to perform software and hardware fixes as necessary, help you with your support needs immediately, and most of all, just being there to ensure that all goes well so that you can sleep calmly through the night.

The third component is our network

To ensure the lowest latency, greatest packet delivery and fastest speeds, we offer the choice of 2 Tier-1 facilities. Bluesqaure in the UK utilises bandwidth from EuroConnex, TeliaSonnera, RapidSwitch, NetrinoUK, Connexions4London, UKServers and Nitrex. Colo4Dallas uses solely Internap bandwidth, optimising each and every route through AT&T, MCI/UUnet/Verizon Business, Sprint, Level 3, NTT/Verio, Savvis and Global Crossing. Internap is generally regarded as the best bandwidth money can buy.

Short Description

cPanel®

cPanel is our prefered choice of control panel. The use of cPanel allows domain owners to perform tasks that would not normally be possible. Domain owners can create email accounts, password protect directories, upload files, install software, and more. All without using the command line! The £7.50/mo fee includes the license, unlimited installations by image (see below) and full management. cPanel is installed by image. The image (found in HyperVM, entitled secured-cpanel) includes the following modifications to a standard cPanel installation:

CHKRootKit (looks for known signatures in trojaned system binaries, it basically detects if your system has been compomised)
RKHunter (scanning tool to find most types of exploits, including backdoors, suspicious files and md5 hash mismatches)
APF Firewall
BFD (works real time in conjunction with APF firewall to block any IP Addresses of users that fail authentication more than 3 times in 10 minutes)
Logwatch (can be configured to report to you on a daily basis with a summary of all log information)
SIM (checks all services 24x7 and restarts them if they are down)
Apache (HTTPD) has been secured and optimised, and mod_security has been installed to block potentially malicious requests
MySQL Server has been optimized to perform at it's best under a virtual environment
System Configuration File sysctl.conf has been secured and hardened to help prevent the TCP/IP stack from syn-flood attacks
/tmp and /var/tmp have been hardened and secured to prevent the execution of malicious scripts
MyTOP (administrative console based tool for monitoring MySQL threads/processes and performance)
SPRI (decreases the load on your server by prioritising processes in realtime)
Unused and commonly exploited software has been removed/disabled
Telnet has been disabled and SSH has been hardened and moved off port 22 (check your welcome email for the port it has been moved to)
Shell Fork Bomb/Memory Hog Protection has been enabled
Background Process Killer has been enabled to kill any of the following which are commonly recognized bad processes: BitchX, bnc, eggdrop, generic-sniffers, guardservices, ircd, psyBNC, ptlink and related services
A warning message has been created for the SSH login welcome screen. Any user that logs into your server via SSH, will see a message stating SSH is for authorized users only, and any unauthorized access will be reported to the law enforcement authorities
Apache has been recompiled with commonly used modules, including GD, Java and IMAP
Ioncube and Zend loaders have been installed
The following commonly used video and streaming-related software has been installed: Libogg, Libvorbis, LAME, FFMPEG, Ruby, FLVTool2, FFMPEG-PHP, MPlayer and MEncoder
DNS recursion has been disabled
Fantastico has been installed but not licensed

Fantastico licenses are availble from us at £1.50 per month or directly from Netenberg. We can help with basic issues.
RVSkin is not availble from us. We do not recommend or support it.

DirectAdmin

DirectAdmin is programmed to be the fastest running control panel available and offers full support for Apache 2.2. DirectAdmin avoids downtime by automatically recovering from crashes. DirectAdmin is the easiest to use control panel, period. The £5/mo fee includes the license, one installation and full management.

The latest version of DirectAdmin is installed on CentOS5 manually by one of our technicians prior to the delivery of your VPS. A basic secured setup is available on request at no charge.

Installatron is available from us for £3 per month, or £1.50 per month for plans with 768MB RAM and below. It is also available from the Installatron website.

Plesk™

Plesk is perhaps the most aesthetically pleasing control panel. It is designed to simplify the management and administration of web sites, offering a Windows-like GUI. The result of it automating more tasks than any other control panel is your ability to put your feet up and let it take care of everything. The £7.50/mo fee includes a 30-domain license, one installation as outlined below and full management.

The latest version of Plesk 8 for Linux/Unix is installed on CentOS5 manually by one of our technicians prior to the delivery of your VPS. Sitebuilder, Dr Web Antivirus and other addons can be purchased direcly from Parallels.

Secured Setup is not available with Plesk.
